A preliminary report from the Technical Conference II

Monday, March 19th, 2012 Posted in Astronautics |

During Saturday 17th March, at the premises of the Istrian Development Agency was held in Pula several thematic meetings regarding further development of the Istrian space program. Uros Todorovic Mikšaj, Gabriel Erman, T. Cmrečnjak, Z. Eres, T. Mujic, Peter Gljušćić, Marcel Rasonja, Marino Tumpić, Ogren variola, and Patty Orbanić Vilko Klein will be the bearers of development and construction of two atmospheric probes. Probes HISTRION-5 and HISTRION-6 and their derivatives will be fully developed, tested and launched later this year. The launch was first scheduled for June, and the other for the August-September this year. HISTRION-5 for the first time provide direct, "real time" transmission of pictures and videos throughout the launch, climbing and flying probe. Two-way radio communications of the National Control Centre and the spacecraft will be achieved wirless protocols that have already been tested. They will transmit telemetry. Derivatives of these aircraft will be tested during its setting and the paragliders flying and airplanes. This is the so-called probe. a second generation which preceded the earlier success of the mission HISTRION probe launched in 2010. and 2011. year. After the mission HISTRION-5 followed by the transfer of experiences, construction of new equipment and peripherals, and the launch of flights and probes of the third generation (HISTRION-6). The spacecraft will actually be constructed by any standards and requirements of the spacecraft. After its test flight in the autumn and this year designers will make the final adjustments and modifications and then the final version HISTRION-6 will be addressed in the U.S. (Interorbital Systems) at its launch into space, which according to information from the U.S. is expected end of 2012. year.
It is important to emphasize that the whole program of atmospheric probe conducted "step by step" with the aim of the program arising from the first Croatian satellite.

Our galaxy is teeming with planets

Keplerova otkrića

Kepler's discoveries

According to the prestigious journal Nature (11.siječanj 2012). In our galaxy there are at least hundreds of billions of planets. This is the result of many years of research astronomers around the world gathered around the PLANET collaboration (Failed Lensing Anomalies Network). According to direct research issues extrasolar planets using various techniques, theoretical models, statistical methods and confirmed the previous results it would also mean that in our immediate environment (50 light-years around the sun) is at least 1500 the planet. The study states that a fair number of these celestial bodies like the Earth-class planets, of course, all this data should be taken with a certain amount of reserves, but the recent discovery of small rocky planets by space telescope Kepler in favor of these conclusions.
Astronomers have for decades tirelessly and unsuccessfully searching for planetary systems beyond our own. First discovery of extrasolar planets happened to 1995th When I was around the star 51 Pegasi was discovered large planets Jupiter type. Today, the 716 proved the existence of planets around other stars and that number increases almost daily. After the era of discovery of extrasolar planets is practically started only a few years ago. Many discoveries are yet to follow in the story since 2006. year are included and amateur astronomers.

Here at the Astronomical Association Vidulini, Gregor Srdoc gave the world the contribution of studies of extrasolar planets (the transit method), peaking in their work in the first place in the world, which is supported by the revelations of these surveys and rankings of AXA American rankings. Total is done over a hundred listed in the AXA observations of extrasolar planets. All of these studies and the results do not affect only the area of astronomy and astrobiology already. Specifically than "mere" discovery of new planets, scientists look for parallel those in the so-called "zone of life." Worlds which are its characteristics and location may be classified as those where potentially life similar to flourish as we know it on Earth. Astronomer Frank Drake in the last century gave the famous Drake equation, which has tried to show how life is widespread in the universe. The key to his thinking was in a large number of stars around which planets reside. Publication of his equation was decades before astronomers discovered the first planet outside our solar system. Surely then it is hard to believe in his assumptions. Today, these thoughts are as visionary for its time, now somewhat become a reality. Who knows, maybe some future discovery of extrasolar planets from the Croatian one day be mentioned as the one where they first spotted the potential signs of extraterrestrial life?

ATV-3 preparations for the mission

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2011 Posted in Astronautics |

The new unmanned cargo ship ATV-3 for supplying the International Space arrived at the training ground of the European raketodroma in French Guiana. There he performed the preparation and completion of cargo and service module automatic unmanned spacecraft, whose launch is expected during the next year. Several tons of equipment, spare parts, food, water, oxygen, fuel should it arrive at the ISS in support of maintaining the space station. ATV-3 is "on the fly" only slightly modernized version of the original project of the European Space Agency and named Edoardo Amaldi, the Italian physicist. ESA has now successfully completed the mission ATV 1 and 2, to a total of five years should be launched as many ATV spacecraft. There are plans under which the ATV concept could become capsule to return cargo to Earth, the spacecraft manned and even a small space station, but they are more beautiful than real engineering desires using this scenario, for now, pouzdang trucks.

Tiangong-1 before launching

Tuesday, August 30th, 2011 Posted in Astronautics |

Tiangong-1, the first series of Chinese first-generation space station is ready for launch expected in September this year. After the real media offensive about this small space stations and dozens of different scenarios of its structure and purpose and operational use, we will soon see what the Chinese have saved us. After the imminent launch of the Chinese system checks the space station. Since the technical parameters showed satisfactory values of k it will start with the Shenzhou spacecraft and unmanned. The aim was to examine the connection or disconnection of the composition space, the transition from the space shuttle crew to the station and vice versa, and the work crew module Tiangong. Although this is a small space station, only a little more than cramped spaceships success of this program is of critical importance to continue the Chinese program pilotiranih spacecraft to orbit the Earth and to future missions to the Moon. The planned operational lifetime of use Tiangong-1 is two years. Unmanned Shenzhou-8 could agree to Tiangong-1, but this year a piloted Shenzhou-9 in early 2012.
